PRIVATE WATER SUPPLIES AND SEWERAGE FACILITIES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 2 and 3 of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1962 (No. 26 of 1962), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Private Water Supplies and Sewerage Facilities (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

2. In these Regulations—

"Principal Regulations" means the Private Water Supplies and Sewerage Facilities Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 117 of 1963 ).

3. Article 5 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of the following table for the table contained in the said article.

4. The following article is hereby inserted in the Principal Regulations after article 5:

"5A Notwithstanding the provisions of articles 4 and 5 of these Regulations, where the cost as estimated by the Minister of a group installation in the case of a water supply exceeds £180 for each dwelling-house served the grant made by the Minister and the grant made by the sanitary authority under the Act may in each case be increased by one-third of the excess of such cost above £180 for each dwelling-house served or by £40, whichever is the less".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Private Water Supplies and Sewerage Facilities Regulations, 1963, to provide that where the cost per house of group water installations exceeds £180 the Minister may pay a total State grant of one-third of the cost per house or £100 whichever is the less. The sanitary authority is empowered to pay a grant in such cases not exceeding the grant paid by the Minister.
