ELECTORAL ACT, 1963 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1963.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (2) of section 1 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963) hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Electoral Act, 1963 (Commencement) Order, 1963.

2. The 12th day of July, 1963, is hereby fixed as the day on which sections 1 and 2 and Part II of the Electoral Act, 1963 , shall come into operation.

3. Section 3 of the said Act shall come into operation on the 12th day of July, 1963, for the purpose of effecting the repeal of the enactments which are specified in the Schedule to this Order to the extent mentioned in the third column of that Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into force the parts of the Electoral Act, 1963 , dealing with the registration of electors and the repeals of the earlier legislation on the same subject.
