REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES (ALTERATION OF FEES) REGULATIONS, 1953.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 9 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952), with the consent of the Minister for Finance and, as respects Article 5 of these Regulations, with the consent of the Minister for Industry and Commerce, the Minister for Local Government and the Minister for Education, hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Alteration of Fees) Regulations, 1953.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 10th day of July, 1953.

3. (a) The amount of the fee for each certified copy of any entry in a register of births, deaths or marriages fixed by each of the enactments to which this Article applies is hereby altered to four shillings and eleven pence.

(b) The enactments to which this Article applies are :

sections 68, 69 and 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844 ;

sections 17, 18 and 19 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863 ;

section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 ;

sections 23 and 25 of, and the Second Schedule to, the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Ireland), 1880.

4. (a) The amount of the fee for each particular search fixed by each of the enactments to which this Article applies is hereby altered to two, shillings.

(b) The enactments to which this Article applies are :

sections 69 and 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844 ;

sections 17, 18 and 19 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863 ;

section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 ;

sections 23 and 25 of, and the Second Schedule to, the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Ireland), 1880.

5. (a) The amount of the fee for a certificate of birth, death or marriage fixed by any of the enactments to which this Article applies is hereby altered to the following amount:—

(i) for each certified copy of an entry in a register of births, one shilling ;

(ii) for each certified copy of an entry in a register of deaths, one shilling and sixpence ;

(iii) for each certified copy of an entry in a register of marriages, one shilling and sixpence.

(b) The enactments to which this Article applies are :

section 10 of the Savings Bank Act, 1887 ;

section 97 of the Friendly Society Act, 1896 ;

section 134 of the Factory & Workshop Act, 1901 ;

paragraph 36 of the First Schedule to the Electoral Act, 1923 (No. 12 of 1923) ;

section 19 of the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926) ;

section 120 of the Vocational Education Act, 1930 (No. 29 of 1930) ;

section 14 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936) ;

sections 51 and 64 of the Insurance Act, 1936 (No. 45 of 1936);

section 17 of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 (No. 4 of 1938).

6. (a) The amount of the fee fixed for the registration of a place of public worship by each of the enactments to which this Article applies is hereby altered to two pounds.

(b) The enactments to which this Article applies are :

sections 7, 27 and 28 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844 ;

section 12 of the Marriage Law (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1863.

7. (a) The amount of the fee for each general search fixed by each of the enactments to which this Article applies is hereby altered to one pound and ten shillings.

(b) The enactments to which this Article applies are :

section 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844 ;

section 17 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863 ;

section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863.
