MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1947 (SECTION 9) REGULATIONS, 1948.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 9 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1947 (No. 46 of 1947), hereby make the following regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act, 1947 (Section 9) Regulations, 1948.

2. (1) The registry in the State under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, of any ship of either of the classes specified in paragraph (2) of this Article shall not be closed or transferred to a port outside the State save with the approval of the Minister for Industry and Commerce.

(2) The classes referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article are—

(a) ships which exceed 15 tons gross and are not fishing boats,

(b) ships which are fishing boats required to be entered in the fishing boat register in accordance with Section 373 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894.
