WIDOWS' AND ORPHANS' PENSIONS (COLLECTION OF CONTRIBUTIONS FOR EXCEPTED PERSONS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1946.

The Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub-section (1) of Section 39 and paragraph (i) of sub-section (1) of Section 65 of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1935 (No. 29 of 1935), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, by this, his Order, makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions (Collection of Contributions for Excepted Persons) (Amendment) Regulations, 1946.

2. The Widows' and Orphans' Pensions (Collection of Contributions for Excepted Persons) Regulations, 1936 (S. R. & O., No. 48 of 1936), are hereby amended by the deletion of the existing Regulation 3 and the substitution therefor of the following :—

" 3. In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires—

the expression " the Act " means the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1935 (No. 29 of 1935) ;

the expression " the Minister " means the Minister for Local Government and Public Health ;

the expression " excepted person " means a person employed in an excepted employment in respect of which contributions are payable under the Act ;

the expression " the Unified Society " means Cumann an Árachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte ;

the expression " the principal Regulations " means the National Health Insurance (Collection of Contributions) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1946 ;

the expression " the National Health Insurance Acts " means the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1942 ;

the expression " half-year " means the period commencing on the first Monday in any year and terminating on the day preceding the twenty-seventh Monday in that year or the period commencing on the twenty-seventh Monday in any year and terminating on the day preceding the first Monday in the next year ;

the expression " the first half-year " means the half-year commencing on the 6th day of January, 1936 ;

the expression " contribution week " means the period of seven days commencing on any Monday."

3. These Regulations shall come into operation and have effect as on and from the 8th day of July, 1946.

4.—(1) These Regulations shall be construed as one with the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions (Collection of Contributions for Excepted Persons) Regulations, 1936.

(2) The Widows' and Orphans' Pensions (Collection of Contributions for Excepted Persons) Regulations, 1936, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions (Collection of Contributions for Excepted Persons) Regulations, 1936 and 1946.
