SHOPS (CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1938 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2) of Section 1 of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 (No. 4 of 1938), that the said Act shall come into operation on such day as shall be fixed for that purpose by order of the Minister for Industry and Commerce either generally or with reference to any particular Part or provision :

NOW, THEREFORE, the Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on him by sub-section (2) of Section 1 of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 (No. 4 of 1938), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 (Commencement) Order, 1938.

2. The 16th day of May, 1938, is hereby fixed as the day on which the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 (No. 4 of 1938), shall come into operation.
