STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1938. No. 192.

OIREACHTAS (PAYMENT OF MEMBERS) ACT, 1933, ADAPTATION ORDER, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (1) of Section 5 of the Constitution (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1937 (No. 40 of 1937), that for the purposes of ensuring that the laws in force in Saorstát Eireann immediately prior to the date of the coming into operation of the Constitution shall continue to be of full force and effect in accordance with and to the extent provided by Article 50 of the Constitution, the Government may by order make all such general or specific adaptations and modifications of any statute or statutory instrument continued in force by the said Article 50 as shall, in the opinion of the Government, be necessary for the purpose aforesaid :

AND WHEREAS the Oireachtas (Payment of Members) Act, 1933 (No. 50 of 1933), was continued in force by the said Article 50 and the adaptation and modification of that Act made by this Order are, in the opinion of the Government, necessary for the purpose aforesaid :

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 5 of the Constitution (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1937 (No. 40 of 1937), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Oireachtas (Payment of Members) Act, 1933 , Adaptation Order, 1938.

2. In paragraph (a) of Section 2 of the Oireachtas (Payment of Members) Act, 1933 (No. 50 of 1933), the words " Dáil Eireann " shall be substituted for the words the Oireachtas ".
