Offences and penalty.

12.—Every person who, for the purpose of procuring the registration of himself or any other person in a register of importers maintained in pursuance of this Act or obtaining for himself or any other person a licence under this Act for the importation of goods, makes any statement or representation in writing which is to his knowledge false or misleading in a material respect shall be guilty of an offence under this section and shall be liable on summary conviction thereof to a fine not exceeding twenty-five pounds.
