S.I. No. 22/2022 - Water Services Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2022

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 21st January, 2022.

I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (3) of the Water Services Act 2017 (No. 29 of 2017) (as adapted by the Housing, Planning and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 408 of 2020 )), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Water Services Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2022.

2. The 1st day of February 2022 is appointed as the day on which section 23 of the Water Services Act 2017 shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints 01 February 2022 as the date on which Section 23 of the Water Services Act 2017 comes into operation. It means that the CRU can address unresolved complaints from customers of Irish Water in respect of requests for connection to the public water services system.
