S.I. No. 427/2020 - National Minimum Wage Order (No. 2) 2020


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 13th October, 2020.

I, HEATHER HUMPHREYS, Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1)(a) of section 10D (inserted by section 8 of the National Minimum Wage (Low Pay Commission) Act 2015 (No. 22 of 2015) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 (No. 5 of 2000) and by section 3(1) of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 :

having received on 17 July 2020, a report from made by the Low Pay Commission under section 10C of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 , and having further received on 22 September 2020 a report from and a recommendation by the Low Pay Commission under section 10C of the National Minimum Wage Act 2000 and having considered the reports and recommendation and having had regard to section 10C(3), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the National Minimum Wage Order (No. 2) 2020.

2. This Order comes into operation on 1 January 2021.

3. It is hereby declared that the national minimum hourly rate of pay for the purposes of the National Minimum Wage Acts 2000 and 2015 shall be €10.20.

4. The national minimum hourly rate of pay may include the following allowances:

(i) for board only, €0.91 per hour worked,

(ii) for lodgings only, €24.10 per week, or €3.45 per day.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This Order sets the national minimum hourly rate of pay, with effect from 1 January 2021, at €10.20, and the board and lodging rates as follows;

Lodgings: €24.10 per week, or €3.45 per day.

Board: €0.91 per hour worked.
