S.I. No. 373/2020 - Communications, Climate Action and Environment (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 29th September, 2020.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Communications, Climate Action and Environment (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020.

(2) This Order comes into operation on 24 September 2020.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Cumarsáide, Gníomhaithe ar son na hAeráide agus Comhshaoil and, in the English language, the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Comhshaoil, Aeráide agus Cumarsáide and, in the English language, to that of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Cumarsáide, Gníomhaithe ar son na hAeráide agus Comhshaoil and, in the English language, the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Comhshaoil, Aeráide agus Cumarsáide and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications.

4. In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment -

(a) references to the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment shall be construed as references to the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications;

(b) references to the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment shall be construed as references to the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications.
