I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 4 and 50 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (No. 21 of 2014) (as adapted by the Environment, Community and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2016 ( S.I. No. 394 of 2016 )), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Assistance Payment (Section 50) Regulations 2017.

2. (1) Part 4 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 (No. 21 of 2014) shall be applied from 1 March 2017 by each housing authority referred to in paragraph (2) in respect of all classes of qualified household to which that Part does not already apply by virtue of the Housing Assistance Payment (Section 50) (No. 3) Regulations ( S.I. No. 575 of 2014 ).

(2) The housing authorities for the purposes of paragraph (1) are—

(a) Dublin City Council,

(b) Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and

(c) Fingal County Council.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Concluding the phased introduction of the Housing Assistance Payment scheme under the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014 , these Regulations provide that Part 4 of that Act will be applied in respect of all classes of qualified household by Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Fingal County Council, from 1 March 2017.
