I, MARY MITCHELL O‘CONNOR, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 20111 , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) (Amendment) Regulations 2016.

2. Regulation 10 of the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013 ( S.I. No. 484 of 2013 ) is amended, in paragraph (7), by the substitution of the following subparagraph for subparagraph (a):

“(a) shall provide the information specified in paragraphs (a), (b), (f) to (h), (l) and (s) of Schedule 2 on that means of communication in accordance with paragraphs (1) and (2), and”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend regulation 10(7)(a) of the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013 ( S.I. No. 484 of 2013 ) which give effect to Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on Consumer Rights.

The purpose of the amendment is to ensure that regulation 10(7)(a) of the Regulations gives full effect to Article 8(4) of the Directive.
