I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 14 of the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 (No. 8 of 2006) and the Sea Fisheries, Foreshore and Dumping at Sea (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2007 ( S.I. No. 707 of 2007 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 455 of 2011 )), for the purpose of giving effect to Regulation (EU) 2015/812 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 20151 (as it relates to deep sea species), hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Sea-Fisheries (Conservation and Rational Exploitation of Deep-Sea Species) (Amendment) Regulations 2015. | ||
2. The Sea-Fisheries (Conservation and Rational Exploitation of Deep-Sea Species) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 175 of 2006 ) are amended by substituting in Regulation 2(1) the definition of “Council Regulation” for the following- | ||
“‘Council Regulation’ means Council Regulation (EC) No 2347/2002 of 16 December 20022 (as amended by Council Regulation (EC) No 2269/2004 of 20 December 20043 and Regulation (EU) 2015/812 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015) and Commission Regulation (EC) No 876/2003 of 21 May 20034 ;”. | ||

These Regulations amend the Sea-Fisheries (Conservation and Rational Exploitation of Deep-Sea Species) Regulations 2006 ( S.I. No. 175 of 2006 ) which provide for control measures as well as collection of additional data on deep-sea species, as outlined in Council Regulation (EC) No 2347/2002 of 16 December 2002, as regards specific access requirements and associated conditions applicable to fishing for deep-sea stocks, and amended by Regulation (EU) 2015/812 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2015, as regards the landing obligation. | ||
