EXLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order commences, with effect from 1 September 2013, sections 68 and 69 (in so far as they are not already in operation) and 70 and 71 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 (No. 37 of 2012). The key impact of these sections is to amend the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2010 (No. 38 of 2010) in respect of the application of the Public Service Pension Reduction (PSPR). Specifically, persons holding more than one relevant public service pension comprehended by this Order will, subject to the other relevant provisions of the 2010 Act as amended, have those pensions added together, or aggregated, for purposes of applying the PSPR.
