S.I. No. 313/2012 - Greyhound Race Track Totalisator (Quadlinko) Jackpot Regulations 2012.

Bord Na gCon, in exercise of the powers conferred on it, by subsection (3) of Section 40 and by subsection (3) of Section 5 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 , (N0. 12 of 1958), hereby makes the following regulations which shall constitute the terms of contract on which bets may be accepted on the Quadlinko Jackpot Totalisator Pool, that is to say:-

Definitions

1. In these regulations:-

(a)“Quadlinko Jackpot Pool” means a pool for nominating the winning greyhound and the second greyhound in the correct order of finish in four selected races.

(b)“Combination” means a bet in the Quadlinko Jackpot Pool in which a person making a bet nominates the numbers of selected greyhounds in the manner required for the pool.

(c)“Winning Combination” means the nomination of the winning greyhound and the second greyhound in correct order of finish in each of the selected races in the pool.

Number of runners

2. The Quadlinko Jackpot Pool shall be held only in races in which there are six runners.

Purchase of tickets

3. Bets for the Quadlinko Jackpot can only be made by the use of Selection Cards at greyhound race tracks, where the Board maintains Totalisators. These cards are available at all Totalisator outlets.

Valid tickets

4. Tickets purchased in respect of selections made are valid only for that meeting and except as provided in article 15 of these regulations no refund of the purchase price or any part thereof shall be made.

Tickets lost or mislaid

5. The operator, his officials or servants shall not be liable, if for any reason whatsoever, a Jackpot ticket is lost or mislaid.

Dead Heat

6. (a) In the event of a dead heat for first place in a selected race then the tickets bearing the number of such dead heating greyhounds shall be deemed the winning combination for that selected race.

(b) In the event of a dead heat for second place in a race then the tickets bearing the number of the first placed greyhound coupled with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds shall be deemed winning combinations for that selected race.

Single Finisher

7. In the event that only a single greyhound is deemed to have finished the race, then the tickets bearing the number of the first placed greyhound, to be first coupled with any other greyhound to be second, shall be deemed winning combinations for that race.

No unit on winning combination or combinations

8. (a) If after completion of the selected races in the pool, there are no winning units on the winning combination or combinations then the operator may, at his discretion carry forward the net pool, either in whole or in such parts as the operator may determine to the net pool in a subsequent Quadlinko Pool at the same or another greyhound track: or,

(b) Carry forward the net pool in the manner provided in subparagraph (a) of this Article, less such sum as the operator may decide to distribute amongst the holders of tickets who have nominated a combination containing the winning greyhounds in such number of races in the pool as the operator may determine.

Calculation of Dividend

9. The dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the total number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the selected races. Should there be no winning combination or combinations and the operator decides to proceed under article 8(b) of these regulations, then the sum to be distributed under that Article shall be calculated on the combination or combinations containing the winning greyhounds in such number of races in the pool as the operator may determine.

Payment of dividend

10. Dividends shall be payable on the presentation of the appropriate winning ticket or tickets whole and not unreasonably defaced or unrecognisable.

Withdrawn greyhounds

11. If a greyhound is withdrawn from a race then each selection in that race shall be deemed to be a winning selection and the remaining races shall be deemed to form the Quadlinko Jackpot Pool at that meeting.

Race not run or declared a “no race”

12. If one or more of the selected races in the Quadlinko Jackpot at any meeting is, for any reason, not run, not won, declared a no race or postponed to another race meeting, each combination selected in the Quadlinko Jackpot for such race or races will be deemed to form the Quadlinko Jackpot at that meeting.

Minimum of selected races

13. If for any reason less than the selected number of races in the pool is run, then the dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool invested at that meeting by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations in the last selected race of the pool which was run.

Jackpot Carryover

14. A Quadlinko Jackpot Carryover, if any, shall only be added to the Pool at a meeting if all four selected races are run with six greyhounds and none are declared a “no race” or “no winner”. In the event of less than all selected races being run, or there being one or more greyhounds withdrawn from the selected races, the carryover will be brought forward to the next meeting.

Abandoned or postponed Meeting

15. In the event of a meeting being abandoned or postponed before the completion of the first selected race, then the Pool shall be cancelled and the total amount staked in the Pool at the meeting shall be refunded on presentation of tickets.

16. Save as otherwise provided in these regulations the provision of the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations 1971 ( S.I. No. 47 of 1971 ) shall apply in respect of bets made and accepted in the Quadlinko Jackpot Pool.

17. These regulations shall come into operation on the 30th day of July 2012

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations, made by Bord na gCon, set out the conditions applicable to betting on the Quadlinko Jackpot Pool at the totalisators operated by the Board on licensed greyhound race tracks and including betting directly or indirectly via the internet where bets are placed from any location.
