I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving further effect to Commission Implementing Decision 2012/248/EU of 7 May 20121 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Movement of Pet Birds) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. | ||
2. The European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Movement of Pet Birds) Regulations 2007 ( S.I. No. 96 of 2007 ) are amended, in Regulation 2(1) by the substitution for the definition of “Commission Decision”(inserted by the European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Movement of Pet Birds) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 10 of 2011)), of— | ||
“ ‘Commission Decision’ means Commission Decision 2007/25/EC of 22 December 2006, Commission Decision 2010/734/EU of 30 November 2010 and Commission Implementing Decision 2012/248/EU of 7 May 2012;”. | ||
2. The European Communities (Avian Influenza) (Control on Movement of Pet Birds) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 10 of 2011) are revoked. | ||

This Order gives effect to Commission Implementing Decision 2012/248 of 7 May 2012 amending Decisions 2005/692/EC, 2005/734/EC, 2007/25/EC and 2009/494/EC, as regards the importation into the Union of pet birds. | ||
