S.I. No. 447/2011 - Local Government Act 2001 (Commencement) Order 2011.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 9th September, 2011.

I, PHIL HOGAN, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 of the Local Government Act 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) (as adapted by the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 (No. 193 of 2011)), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2001 (Commencement) Order 2011.

2. The 7th day of September 2011 is appointed as the day upon which sections 188 , 191 and 194 (3) (inserted by section 48 of the Environment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 (No. 20 of 2011)) of the Local Government Act 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The purpose of this Order is to commence sections 188 , 191 and 194 (3) of the Local Government Act 2001 as inserted by section 48 of the Environment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 . The sections provide as follows:

Section 188 (Interpretation);

Section 191 (That the town previously known as An Daingean in accordance with S.I. 872 of 2004 shall be known as Daingean Uí Chúis in the Irish language and Dingle in the English language); and

Section 194(3) (That any reference to An Daingean in an enactment, instrument or other document shall be construed as a reference to Daingean Uí Chúis, following commencement of section 191).

This Order should be read in conjunction with the Environment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 (Commencement) Order 2011.
