Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 17th September, 2010.

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (7) of the Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 (No. 3 of 2006), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 (Certain Provisions) (Commencement) Order 2010.

2. The 1st day of October 2010 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 (No. 3 of 2006) shall come into operation:

(a) subparagraph (iii) of section 11(a), in so far as that subparagraph is not already in operation;

(b) subparagraph (iv) of section 11(a); and

(c) subparagraph (v) of section 11(a), in so far as that subparagraph inserts paragraph (t) into subsection (1) of section 4 of the Irish Medicines Board Act 1995 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order may be cited as the Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 (Certain Provisions) (Commencement) Order 2010. The effect of the Order is to commence provisions of the Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 relevant to (1) exercising the role of competent authority for cosmetic products and (2) receiving applications from and issuing certificates to persons proposing to export any description of medicinal products, cosmetic products, veterinary medicinal products or medical devices as is considered appropriate after having regard to the law.
