S.I. No. 230/2007 - The National Social Work Qualifications Board (Establishment) Order 1997 (Amendment) Order 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 3 to 6 of the Health (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1961 (No. 27 of 1961), as amended by Section 22 of the Health (Amendment) (No. 3) Act 1996 , (No. 32 of 1996) (as adapted by the Health (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 1997 (No. 308 of 1997)), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the National Social Work Qualifications Board (Establishment) Order 1997 (Amendment) Order 2007.

2. The National Social Work Qualifications Board (Establishment) Order ( SI No. 97 of 1997 ) is amended by substituting for Article 8(b) the following:

“(b) (i) Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 8(a) the Minister may extend the term of office of the members of the Board holding office on the 16th May 2007 for such period, not exceeding two years, as may be specified by the Minister.

(ii) The Minister may further extend, once only, the term of office of the members referred to in Article 8(b)(i) for a further period not exceeding 12 months as may be specified by the Minister.”

This Order allows the Minister for Health and Children to extend the term of office of the current board of the National Social Work Qualifications Board for a period not exceeding two years from the 16 th May 2007.
