REGULATIONS

entitled

Horse Racing On-Course Betting Office (Amendment) Regulations 2006


Horse Racing Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 53 of the Irish Horseracing Industry Act 1994 (No. 18 of 1994) and the Horse and Greyhound Racing Act 2001 (No. 20 of 2001) hereby makes the following regulations:

1.       (1)        These Regulations may be cited as the Horse Racing On-Course Betting Office (Amendment) Regulations 2006

(2)        These Regulations shall come into effect on the 1st day of March 2006

2.       In these Regulations -

“the Principal Regulations” means the Horseracing (On-Course Betting Office Regulations, 1995;

“the 1998 Amendment Regulations” means the Horseracing (On-Course Betting Office) (Amendment) Regulations, 1998;

Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations shall apply also to the interpretation of these Regulations;

Nothing in these Regulations shall prejudice the powers and entitlement of Horse Racing Ireland under the Horseracing Industry Act 1994 and the Horse and Greyhound Racing Act 2001 .

3.       Revocation of certain provisions of the Principal Regulations

Paragraphs 4 (a) (i) and 4 (b) of the Principal Regulations are hereby revoked.

4.       Revocation of the 1998 Amendment Regulations

The 1998 Amendment Regulations are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Memorandum

These Regulations remove the restrictions previously applicable in relation to the number of on-course betting offices and the range and scope of services which such betting offices could operate.
