S.I. No. 634/2002 - Inland Post Amendment (No. 66) Scheme, 2002.


An Post, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) as amended by Regulation 4(1) of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 ( S.I. No. 310 of 2000 ), and with the concurrence of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation to the increases in charges herein made hereby makes the following Scheme:

1.   This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 66) Scheme 2002.

2.   This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 11th day of August 2002.

3.   In this Scheme, “the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ) as amended;

“Scheme No. 36” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 36) Scheme 1986 ( S.I. No. 362 of 1986 );

“Scheme No. 47” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 47) Scheme 1991 ( S.I. No. 95 of 1991 );

“Scheme No. 57” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 57) Scheme 1998 ( S.I No. 129 of 1998 );

“Scheme No. 59” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 59) Scheme 1998 ( S.I No. 133 of 1998 );

“Scheme No. 62” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 62) Scheme 2000 ( S.I. No. 320 of 2000 ).

4.   All rates and charges payable upon letters and postal packets in this Scheme pertain to postal packets within the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 310 of 2000).

5.   Words defined in the Principal Warrant shall have the same meaning in this Scheme.

6    The First Schedule to Scheme No. 36 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained (inserted by Regulation 13 of Scheme No. 47 and Regulation 21 of Scheme No. 57) of the entries in the First Schedule Part I to this Scheme.

7.   The charges specified in the First Schedule Part II to this Scheme are the applicable rates of postage for envelopes posted in the Postaim Service pursuant to Regulation 10.2 of Scheme No. 36, as inserted by Regulation 20 of Scheme No. 57. “Level Two” and “Level Three” as specified in Columns 5 and 6 respectively of the Second Schedule Part II to this Scheme are the presentation requirements of An Post as published from time to time.

8.   The First Schedule to Scheme No. 59 (inserted by Regulation 3 of Scheme No. 62) is amended herein by the substitution for the entries therein contained of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.
