S.I. No. 510/2002 - Communications Regulation Act 2002 (Establishment Day) Order 2002

I, Dermot Ahern, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Communications Regulation Act 2002 (No. 20 of 2002) and the Communications, Energy and Geological Survey of Ireland (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 300 of 2002 (as adapted by the Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 307 of 2002 )), hereby order as follows:

1.         This Order may be cited as the Communications Regulation Act 2002 (Establishment Day) Order 2002.

2.         The first day of December 2002 is appointed as the establishment day for the purposes of the Communications Regulation Act 2002 (No. 20 of 2002).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

The purpose of this order is to specify the date on which the Commission for Communications Regulation is to be established, as provided for in the Communications Regulation Act, 2002 . The establishment of the Commission for Communications Regulation will have the effect of dissolving the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation and transferring the functions of the Director to the new Commission under the Act
