S.I. No. 218/2002 - Local Government Act, 2001 (Commencement) (No. 3) Order, 2002

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 7 of the Local Government Act, 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) hereby orders as follows:-

1.   This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 2001 (Commencement) (No. 3 Order, 2002.

2.   In this Order, “the Act of 2001” means the Local Government Act, 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) .

3.   On 1 January 2003, Part 15 of the Act of 2001 shall come into operation other than section 169 and any reference to a code of conduct in sections 166(1), 167(2), 170(1) 171(1)(b), and 174(6).

This Order provides for the commencement generally of the provisions of Part 15 of the Local Government Act, 2001 relating to an Ethical Framework for the Local Government Service, with effect from 1 January, 2003.
