S.I. No. 147/2002 - Investor Compensation Act, 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Body and Individuals) Regulations, 2002


I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 18 (4) of the Investor Compensation Act 1998 (No. 37 of 1998) and with the agreement of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Investor Compensation Act 1998 (Section 18(4) (Prescription of Body and Individuals) Regulations 2002.

2. The following body and individuals are hereby prescribed as a body and individuals which appear to the Minister to represent the interests of clients of investment firms:

(a)   The Consumers Association of Ireland;

(b)  Ms Ann O'Neill, Solicitor, Abercorn Solicitors, 38 Pembroke Road, Dublin 4;

(c)  Mr. Gerry Shanahan, Deputy National Secretary, MSF (Manufacturing Science Finance), 15 Merrion Square, Dublin 2;

(d)  Mr. Gearoid Geraghty, Partner, Fair and Murtagh, Solicitors, Society Street Ballinasloe, Co. Galway;

(e)  Mr. Jack Thompson, Deputy Director, Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs, 4-5 Harcourt Road, Dublin 2.

3. The following are revoked:

(a) the Investor Compensation Act, 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Individuals Regulations 1998 ( S.I. No. 350 of 1998 );

(b) the Investor Compensation Act, 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Individuals Regulations 1999 ( S.I. No. 345 of 1999 );

(c) the Investor Compensation Act, 1998 (Section 18(4)) (Prescription of Individuals Regulations 2001 ( S.I. No. 440 of 2001 ).
