S.I. No. 29/2002 - Lottery Prizes Regulations 2002


I, John O'Donoghue, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 33 (2) of the National Lottery Act 1986 (No. 28 of 1986) as adapted by the Justice (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 1997 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1997 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1.         (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Lottery Prizes Regulations 2002.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 March 2002.

2.         The Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956 (No. 2 of 1956), is amended by substituting in paragraph (c) of section 28 (2) “€20,000” for “£15,000” in each place where it occurs in that paragraph.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation thereof).

These Regulations increase, with effect from 1 March 2002, the limit on the total value of prizes for lotteries held under section 28 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956 . The limit on the total value of prizes for lotteries held under section 28 of the 1956 Act is increased from £15,000 (€19,046.07) to €20,000.
