S.I. No. 595/2001 - Bankruptcy Act, 1988 (Alteration of Monetary Limits) Order, 2001


I, John O'Donoghue, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 143 of the Bankruptcy Act, 1988 (No. 27 of 1988) hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Bankruptcy Act, 1988 (Alteration of Monetary Limits) Order, 2001.

2.       With effect from 1 January, 2002, in the case of each provision of the Bankruptcy Act, 1988 (No. 27 of 1988) specified in column (2) of the Schedule to this Order, for the monetary amount specified in column (3) of that Schedule at that reference number there shall be substituted the monetary amount specified in column (4) of that Schedule at that reference number.

3.       This Order shall not affect any case in which a person was adjudicated bankrupt or granted protection before it came into force.

The purpose of this order is to make provision for the substitution, with effect from 1 January 2002, of convenient amounts expressed in Euro for amounts expressed in Irish Pounds in provisions of the Bankruptcy Act, 1988 .
