S.I. No. 298/2001 - Road Traffic (National Car Test) (No 2) Regulations, 2001


In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government by sections 5 , 11 , 18 and 123 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 , (No. 24 of 1961) which said powers are delegated to me by the Environment and Local Government (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 427 of 1997 ), I, Robert Molloy, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government hereby make the following Regulations:

1.   (1)   These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (National Car Test) (No 2) Regulations, 2001.

(2)   The Road Traffic (National Car Test) Regulations 1999 to 2001 and these Regulations shall be construed together as one and may be cited as the Road Traffic (National Car Test) Regulations, 1999 to 2001;

2.   (1)   The testing authority shall not issue a certificate of suitability or a test certificate in respect of a vehicle for use as a either a hackney, a limousine, a taxi or a wheelchair accessible taxi, unless the appropriate fee has been paid to the authority by the applicant for the small public service licence in respect of the said vehicle.

(2)   With effect from 1 July 2001, the appropriate fee shall be -

(a)    £70.00 or €88.80, in respect of a certificate of suitability, and

(b)    £37.80 or €48 in respect of a test certificate.

These Regulations require that from 1st July 2001, specified fees be paid to the testing authority (National Car Testing Service Ltd.) for small public service vehicles in order to receive a certificate of suitability (£70.00 or €88.80) or a test certificate (£37.80 or €48.00).
