S.I. No. 149/2001 - Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Section 29A(4)) (No. 2) Order, 2001

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 29A(4) (inserted by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act, 2001 (No. 3 of 2001)) of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), and consider it reasonably necessary to avoid the outbreak of disease within the State, hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Section 29A(4))(No. 2) Order, 2001 and shall come into operation on 14 April, 2001.

2.       Subsection (3) of section 29A (inserted by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act, 2001 (No. 3 of 2001) of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 , shall have effect for the period of two months from 14 April, 2001 within the whole of the State.

The effect of this Order is to prohibit for a period of 2 months from the 14^th April, 2001 the movement of animals within 30 days of purchase save under permit.
