S.I. No. 72/2001 - European Communities (Reduction of Certain Economic Relations With The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001

I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 2488/20001 of 10 November 2000 hereby make the following regulations:

1.      These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Reduction of Certain Economic Relations with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001.

2.      Regulation 2 of the European Communities (Reduction of Certain Economic Relations with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) Regulations 1998 ( S.I. No. 312 of 1998 ) is amended by the substitution for “Article 1, 2(a) or 3” of “Article 1 or 3”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

The effect of this Order is to amend the Statutory Instrument that provided for penalties for breaches of EU Council Regulation (EC) No. 926/98 concerning the reduction of certain economic relations with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in order to take account of the lifting of the sanctions that had been introduced under Article 2a of that Regulation. The removal of these sanctions was given effect to by EU Council Regulation (EC) No. 2488/2000.
