S.I. No. 39/2001 - Greyhound Race Track (Racing) (Amendment) Regulations 2001

Bord na gCon in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 25 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958) and also by sub-section (3) of Section 5 of the said Act, hereby makes the following regulations, that is to say:-

(1)     These regulations may be cited as the Greyhound Race Track (Racing) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001.

(2)     The Greyhound Race Track (Racing) Regulations, 1993 ( No. 158 of 1993 ) are amended as follows:-

(a)    By the deletion of sub-article 23(1)(g) of the Greyhound Race Track (Racing) Regulations, 1993 and the substitution therefor of a sub-article in the following terms.

(1)(g)  “the racing manager shall not allow to compete in a race any unraced greyhound whose last qualifying trial over the distance for which it is entered was run more than forty-two days prior to the race and shall not permit to compete in a race any raced greyhound whose last previous performance was recorded more than forty-two days prior to the race. This provision shall not apply to a greyhound listed as a runner or reserve for a particular race at a particular track where such race could not have been run for any reason provided the said greyhound races at that track within 14 days of the postponed or abandoned race.”

(b)    By the deletion of sub-article 25 (4) and the substitution therefor of sub-articles in the following terms:

25 (4)  “Performances on the flat will re-qualify a raced hurdle greyhound for hurdle racing.”

25 (5)  “Performances on the flat may be published in the race card for hurdle races and vice-versa.”

The effect of these regulations is to amend the Greyhound Race Track (Racing) Regulations, 1993, regarding the qualifications of (a) unraced greyhounds for racing (b) raced hurdle greyhounds for hurdle racing and (c) publication of hurdle/flat form in certain instances.
