S.I. No. 394/2000 - Maintenance Allowances (Increased Payment) Regulations, 2000.


The Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and section 44 (sub-section 5) of the Health Act, 1947 , (No. 28 of 1947), as adapted by the Health (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order ( S.I. No. 308 of 1997 ), hereby makes the following Regulations—

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Maintenance Allowances (Increased Payment) Regulations, 2000.

Rate of Payment.

2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 2000 ( S.I. No. 114 of 2000 ), any amount so payable in respect of the week ending 8 December, 2000 to or in respect of himself or his dependants shall be increased by a sum equal to 100 per cent of that amount of £20 whichever is the greater.

The Minister for Finance consents to these Regulations.

The effect of these Regulations is to increase, in respect of the week ending 8th December, 2000 the maximum weekly rate of maintenance allowance payable under section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 by a sum equal to one hundred per cent of that amount or £20, whichever is the greater.
