S.I. No. 288/2000 - European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) (Amendment) Regulations, 2000


I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive No. 2000/45/EC of 6 July 20001 , and for the purpose of giving further effect to Council Directive 70/373/EEC of 20 July 19702 , as amended, hereby make the following Regulations.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) (Amendment) Regulations, 2000.

(2) The European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) Regulations, 1999 and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) Regulations 1999 to 2000.

2. Regulation 2(1) of the European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) Regulations, 1999 are hereby amended by the substitution, for the definition of “prescribed method of analysis”, of the definition set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

SCHEDULE

“prescribed method of analysis” means a method of analysis which is established as a Community method of analysis for the official control of feedingstuffs in accordance with:—

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Feedingstuffs) (Methods of Sampling and Analysis) Regulations, 1999, so as to give effect to Commission Directive 2000/45/EC which establishes Community methods of analysis for the determination of vitamin A, vitamin A, vitamin E and tryptophan in feedingstuffs. The Regulations should be read in conjunction with the Commission Directives.
