S.I. No. 227/2000 - European Communities (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment No.4) Regulations, 2000.


I, MICHEÁL MARTIN, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2000/41/EC of the 19th June 2000, hereby make the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment No. 4) Regulations, 2000.

2. In these Regulations “the Principal Regulations” mean the European Communities (Cosmetic Products) Regulations, 1997.

3. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by

(a) the addition to the definition of “the Principal Directive”, in regulation 4(1) thereof of the reference “2000/41/EC47 ”; and

(b) the substitution in Regulation 7(1)(f) of the “30th June, 2002” for the date specified therein.

4. The European Communities (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations, 2000 ( S.I. No. 203 of 2000 ) are hereby revoked.

These Regulations give effect to the twenty-sixth Commission Directive 2000/41/EC by amending the European Communities (Cosmetic Products) Regulations, 1997 to 2000 in relation to the postponement of the date on which the ban on the testing of animals in respect of any ingredient or combination of ingredients used in cosmetic products comes into force.

The European Communities (Cosmetic Products) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations, 2000 ( S.I. No. 203 of 2000 ) are revoked by these Regulations.
