S.I. No. 207/2000 - Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000 (Commencement) Order, 2000.


I, JOHN O'DONOGHUE, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (4) of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000 order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000 (Commencement) Order, 2000.

2. The 6th day of July, 2000, is fixed as the day on which the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000 (other than sections 15, 17 and 27), shall come into operation.

3. The 2nd day of October, 2000, is fixed as the day on which section 27 of the Act shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order brings into operation all sections of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2000 , except section 15 (which relates to the display of notice relating to under-age drinking) and section 17 (which relates to the labelling of containers in which alcohol is sold off the premises).

The remaining sections, other than section 27, come into operation on 6 July, 2000. Section 27 (relating to application for and renewal of special restaurant licences) comes into operation on 2 October, 2000.
