S.I. No. 174/2000 - Lottery Prizes Regulations, 2000.


I, JOHN O'DONOGHUE, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 33 (2) of the National Lottery Act, 1986 (No. 28 of 1986), as adapted by the Justice (Alteration of name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1997 ), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Lottery Prizes Regulations, 2000.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 2000.

2. The Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 (No. 2 of 1956), is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraph (c) of section 28(2) of “£15,000” for “£10,000” in each place where it occurs in that paragraph.

These Regulations increase, with effect from 1st day of August, 2000, the limit on the total value of prizes for lotteries held under section 28 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 from £10,000 to £15,000.
