S.I. No. 388/1999 - Oireachtas (Allowances To Members) (Telephone and Postal Facilities) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.


I, CHARLIE McCREEVY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 2 (inserted by section 11 (1) of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (No. 3 of 1992), and amended by section 3 of the Oireachtas (Miscellaneous Provisions) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1996 (No. 39 of 1996) and 3 (as amended by section 17 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary, Judicial and Court Offices (Amendment) Act, 1998 (No. 5 of 1998)) of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1962 (No. 32 of 1962), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Telephone and Postal Facilities) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 2000.

3. Regulation 5 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Telephone and Postal Facilities) Regulations, 1998 ( S.I. No. 99 of 1998 ), is hereby amended by the substitution:

(a) in paragraph (d)(i)(II) of “1,750” for “1,500”,

(b) in paragraph (d)(ii)(II) of “1,750” for “1,500”, and

(c) in paragraph (d)(iii) of “1,750” for “1,500”.

These Regulations amend existing regulations which provide for the provision of telephone and postal facilities to Members of the Oireachtas. From the 1st day of January 2000, a monthly allocation of 1,750 ordinary prepaid envelopes will be available to Members of the Oireachtas.
