S.I. No. 314/1999 - Electoral Regulations, 1992 (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.


The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 46 of the Electoral Act, 1992 (No. 23 of 1992) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Electoral Regulations, 1992 (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.

2. In these Regulations “the 1992 Regulations” means the Electoral Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 407 of 1992 ).

3. The form set out in the Schedule to the 1992 Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph 8:

“APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION AGENT

8. Under Section 28 of the Electoral Act, 1997 each candidate shall appoint an election agent for the purposes of accounting for expenditure incurred at the election and shall, not later than the last day for receiving nominations at the election, notify in writing the name and address of the agent to the returning officer. The election agent may also assist the candidate generally in relation to the election as provided for under the Electoral Act, 1992 .”

These Regulations revise the notes to the form of nomination paper to be used at a Dáil election to take account of the requirement under section 28 of the Electoral Act, 1997 to appoint an election agent for the purpose of accounting for expenditure incurred at the election.
