S.I. No. 310/1999 - Nature Reserve (Clochar na gCon) Establishment Order, 1999.

I, SÍLE de VALERA, Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture and Food and the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being satisfied that the land specified in Article 2 of the following Order, being land to which section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976) applies, includes a blanket bog ecosystem which is of scientific interest and that the said ecosystem is likely to benefit if measures are taken for its protection and that it is desirable to establish the said land as a nature reserve and that the proper management of the reserve is not precluded by any interest of any other person in or over the land, for the purpose of conserving the said ecosystem do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the said Act and the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 443 of 1994 ) [as adapted by the Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1997 )], do hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Nature Reserve (Clochar na gCon) Establishment Order, 1999.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of October, 1999.

2. (1) It is hereby declared that the land specified in paragraph (2) of this Article shall constitute and there is hereby established a Nature Reserve.

(2) The land referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article is the area of land comprising that part of the land known as Clochar na gCon which is situated in the townland of Cloghernagun in the Country of Galway enclosed on the map annexed hereto within the inner margin of the black line and hatched thereon in black.

The Order establishes part of the lands known as Clochar na gCon in the Country of Galway as a nature reserve so that it can be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the blanket bog ecosystem which it constitutes.
