S.I. No. 259/1999 - Social Welfare Act, 1999 (Sections 10, 12 & 13) (Commencement) Order, 1999.

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 14 of the Social Welfare Act, 1999 (No. 3 of 1999), hereby orders as follows:

Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1999 (Sections 10, 12 and 13) (Commencement) Order, 1999.

Commencement.

2. The 5th day of August, 1999, is hereby appointed as the day on which sections 10 , 12 and 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1999 (No. 3 of 1999), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides that sections 10 , 12 and 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1999 will come into effect on the 5th day of August, 1999.

Section 10 provides for the substitution for the definitions of “relevant pensioner” and “carer”.

Section 12 provides for improvements in the assessment of means for carer's allowance.

Section 13 provides for amendments consequential on section 10.
