S.I. No. 215/1999 - European Communities (Knackery) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.


I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) hereby make the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Knackery) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 21st day of July 1999.

(3) The European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 396 of 1996 ) and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 and 1999.

2. Regulation 2 (1) of the European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (b) in the definition of “knackery” of the following paragraph:

“(b) for the cutting up of dead animals, for sale as food for packs of hounds, or”
