S.I. No. 178/1999 - Finance Act, 1999 (Commencement of Section 117(1)) Order, 1999

I, CHARLIE McCREEVY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 117 (2) of the Finance Act, 1999 (No. 2 of 1999), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Finance Act, 1999 (Commencement of Section 117(1)) Order, 1999.

2. The 1st day of July 1999, is hereby appointed as the day on which section 117 (1) of the Finance Act, 1999 (No. 2 of 1999) shall come into operation.

This Order appoints the 1st day of July, 1999 as the date for coming into operation of section 117 (1) of the Finance Act, 1999 . As a consequence, the rate of excise duty on bets is reduced to 5 per cent. as and from that date.
