COUNTY OF WICKLOW LOCAL ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1998

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 24 of the Local Government Act, 1994 (No. 8 of 1994), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the County of Wicklow Local Electoral Areas Order, 1998.

2. (1) The County of Wicklow shall be divided into the local electoral areas which are named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Each such local electoral area shall consist of the area set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the council of the County of Wicklow to be elected for each such local electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of that local electoral area.

3. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to an electoral division or urban district shall be construed as referring to such electoral division or urban district as existing at the date of this Order and every reference to a former rural district shall be construed as a reference to that district as constituted immediately before the 1st day of October, 1925.

4. The Wicklow County Council Order, 1942, the Wicklow County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 41 of 1974 ) and Article 9 of the County Electoral Areas (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1985 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1985 ) are hereby revoked.

The urban district of Arklow and the electoral divisions of Aghowle, Arklow Rural, Aughrim, Avoca, Ballinaclash, Ballinacor, Ballingate, Ballinglen, Ballyarthur, Ballybeg, Carnew, Coolattin, Coolballintaggart, Coolboy, Cronebane, Cronelea, Ennereilly, Kilballyowen, Kilbride (in the former Rural District of Rathdrum), Killinure, Kilpipe, Knockrath, Money, Rath, Shillelagh, Tinahely.

The electoral divisions of Ballinguile, Baltinglass, Blessington, Burgage, Donaghmore, Donard, Dunlavin, Eadestown, Hartstown, Hollywood, Humewood, Imael North, Imael South, Kilbride (in the former Rural District of Baltinglass No. 1), Lackan, Lugglass, Rathdangan, Rathsallagh, Stratford, Talbotstown, The Grange, Tober, Togher (in the former Rural District of Baltinglass No. 1), Tuckmill.

The urban district of Wicklow and the electoral divisions of Altidore, Ballinderry, Ballycullen, Brockagh, Dunganstown East, Dunganstown South, Dunganstown West, Glendalough, Glenealy, Killiskey, Moneystown, Newcastle Upper, Oldtown, Rathdrum, Trooperstown, Wicklow Rural.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amend the division of County Wicklow into county electoral areas and to fix the number of members to be elected for each electoral area.
