BOVINE DISEASES (LEVIES) REGULATIONS, 1998.

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2 (2) and 19 (1) of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979) (as adapted by the Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 302 of 1997 )), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1998.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1998.

2. The amount of levy payable under section 2 of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979), shall—

(a) as regards milk, be 0.4 penny per gallon, and

(b) as regards animals slaughtered or exported live, be£2 per animal.

3. The Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 74 of 1996 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations which came into effect on the 1st of July, 1998 prescribe new rates of disease levy on milk for processing and on bovine animals slaughtered or exported live.
