SOCIAL WELFARE (CONSOLIDATED PAYMENTS PROVISIONS) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 6) (REHABILITATIVE EMPLOYMENT) REGULATIONS, 1998.

The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 and Rules 1(2)(s)(ii) of Part I and 1(4)(h)(ii) of Part II (inserted by section 26 of the Social Welfare Act, 1997 (No. 10 of 1997)) of the Third Schedule of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1 Citation and construction

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 6) (Rehabilitative Employment) Regulations, 1998.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 to 1998 shall be construed together as one and may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 to 1998.

2 Commencement

2. These Regulations shall come into operation—

(a) in so far as it relates to Disability Allowance on the 3rd day of June, 1998, and

(b) in so far as it relates to Blind Pension on the 5th day of June, 1998.

3 Definitions

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) Regulations, 1994 ( S.I. No. 417 of 1994 ).

4 Disregard of earnings from rehabilitative employment

4. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution in article 89B (inserted by article 6 of the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 143 of 1996 ) for "£34.10" of "£50.00", and

(b) the substitution in article 90A(1) (as amended by article 4(c) of the Social Welfare (Consolidated Payments Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 3) (Disability Allowance) Regulations, 1997 ( S.I. No. 251 of 1997 )) for "£36.30" of "£50.00".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for an increase to£50 in the amount of weekly earnings disregarded from employment of a rehabilitative nature in the assessment of means for Disability Allowance and Blind Pension.
