URBAN RENEWAL ACT, 1986 (REMISSION OF RATES) (AMENDMENT) SCHEME, 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government by section 7 of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (No. 19 of 1986), as amended by section 57 of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority Act, 1997 (No. 7 of 1997), which powers are delegated to me by the Environment and Local Government (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 427 of 1997 ), I, Robert Molloy, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government, hereby make the following amending scheme:—

1. This scheme may be cited as the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1998.

2. The Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) Scheme, 1986 ( S.I. No. 276 of 1986 ), as amended by the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1989 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1989 ), the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1991 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1991 ) and the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1994 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1994 ), is hereby amended

(a) by the substitution in Article 3 of "24th day of June, 1986" for "date of the making of this scheme", and

(b) by the substitution in Article 4 of "24th day of June, 1986" for "3rd day of July, 1986".

3. The Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) Scheme, 1988 ( S.I. No. 93 of 1988 ), as amended by the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1991 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1991 ) and the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1994 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1994 ), is hereby amended

(a) by the substitution in Article 3 of "9th day of July, 1987" for "date of the making of this scheme", and

(b) by the substitution in Article 4 of "9th day of July, 1987" for "9th day of May, 1988".

4. The Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (No. 2) Scheme, 1988 ( S.I. No. 311 of 1988 ), as amended by the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1991 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1991 ) and the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1994 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1994 ), is hereby amended

(a) by the substitution in Article 3 of "9th day of July, 1987" for "date of the making of this scheme", and

(b) by the substitution in Article 4 of "9th day of July, 1987" for "30th day of November, 1988".

5. The Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) Scheme, 1990 ( S.I. No. 205 of 1990 ), as amended by the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1994 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1994 ), is hereby amended

(a) by the substitution in Article 3 of "1st day of May, 1990" for "date of the making of this scheme", and

(b) by the substitution in Article 4 of "1st day of May, 1990" for "2nd day of August, 1990".

6. The Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (No. 2) Scheme, 1990 ( S.I. No. 288 of 1990 ), as amended by the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Remission of Rates) (Amendment) Scheme, 1994 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1994 ), is hereby amended

(a) by the substitution in Article 3 of "1st day of May, 1990", for "date of the making of this scheme", and

(b) by the substitution in Article 4 of "1st day of May, 1990" for "5th day of December, 1990".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This scheme amends the qualifying period within which certain works must be carried out in certain designated areas in order to be eligible for remission of rates under the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 . The revisions bring the rates remission commencement dates into line with those applying to the tax incentives available under the Urban Renewal Scheme which expired in 1994.
