JURISDICTION OF COURTS AND ENFORCEMENT OF JUDGEMENTS (EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES) ACT, 1988 (SECTION 1(4)) (DECLARATION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1997

I, DAVID ANDREWS, T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section l(4)(a) of the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgements (European Communities) Act, 1988, as amended by section 3 of the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgements Act, 1993, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgements (European Communities) Act, 1988 (Section 1(4)) (Declaration) (Amendment) Order, 1997.

2. It is hereby declared that the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgements (European Communities) Act, 1988 (Section 1(4)) (Declaration) Order, 1990, is amended by the addition to the First Schedule to that Order of the paragraph set out in the Schedule hereto.

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1997.

SCHEDULE

 The 1989 Convention: the State, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Hellenic Republic, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order designates the countries which are Contracting States to the Brussels Convention on Jurisdiction and Enforcement of Judgements in Civil and Commercial Matters, 1968.
