S.I. No. 418/1997 - Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17 and Section 18) (South Eastern) Order, 1997


An tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 17 and Section 18 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17 and Section 18) (South Eastern) Order, 1997.

2. The existing Registrars' Districts of Dungarvan, Lismore, and Rathgormack shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Dungarvan.

3. The existing Registrars' Districts of Carlow No. 1, Borris, Leighlinbridge, Muine Bheag (Bagnalstown) and Rathvilly shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Carlow.

4. The existing Registrars' Districts of Ballyragget, Castlecomer No. 1 and Castlecomer No. 2 shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Castlecomer.

5. The existing Registrars Districts of Clonmel, Mullinahone and Fethard shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Clonmel.

6. The existing Registrars' Districts of Ballingarry, Cashel, Kilcooley, Killenaule, Kilpatrick and Tullamaine shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Cashel.

7. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Castlecomer, Kilkenny, and Thomastown shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Kilkenny.

8. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Carrick-on-Suir, Cashel, Clogheen, Clonmel and Tipperary shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Clonmel.

9. The existing Superintendent Registrars' Districts of Enniscorthy, Gorey, New Ross and Wexford shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Superintendent Registrar's District to be known as the Superintendent Registrar's District of Wexford.

10. This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of October, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Superintendent Registrars' Districts and Registrars' Districts in the functional area of the South Eastern Health Board so as to reduce the number of such districts in that area.
