TOURISM AND TRADE (ALTERATION OF NAME OF DEPARTMENT AND TITLE OF MINISTER) ORDER, 1997

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Tourism and Trade (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 12th day of July, 1997.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Turasoíreachta agus Trádála and in the English language, the Department of Tourism and Trade, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Turasoíreachta, Spoírt agus Áineasa and in the English language, to that of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Turasoíreachta agus Trádála and, in the English language, the Minister for Tourism and Trade, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Turasoíreachta, Spoírt agus Áineasa and in the English language, to that of the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation.

4. In any enactment—

( a ) references to the Department of Tourism and Trade shall be construed as references to the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation;

( b ) references to the Minister for Tourism and Trade shall be construed as references to the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order changes the name of the Department of Tourism and Trade to that of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation and the title of the Minister for Tourism and Trade to that of the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation.
