ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, 1994 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1997

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (Commencement) Order, 1997.

2. The following provisions of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 shall come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1997:

( a ) section 4 for the purpose of effecting the repeal of sections 89 and 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 60 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968);

( b ) section 35.

3. Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation certain provisions of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (No. 7 of 1994).
